Spencer’s Pit Stops: Minneopa State Park
Happy Friday!
This past week my humans and I went to one of the local state parks for a hike. We wanted to see if the waterfalls were open with the warm weather we’ve been having.
First, we came upon the upper waterfall. We looked and looked but were only able to fine three little areas where the falls that were open. Even the stream part was mostly frozen. But I wouldn’t recommend ice skating.
It sure was a peaceful day for a hike! There were many people out and about taking in the beautiful weather. What more could we ask for in March then sun days and temps in the 60’s.
As we were hiking, I was able to explore a little.
The lower falls was starting to separate. It was amazing how it was starting melting, yet was still frozen. I could have sat there all day soaking up the rays.
Stretching my legs, hearing the birds, smelling the fresh air, and feeling the melting snow beneath my paws was amazing.
Spring is definitely right around the corner and I look forward visiting more of Minnesota’s great state parks.

Hello and Happy Friday! While traveling to Arizona one of many pit stops we made was the Montezuma Castle National Monument. This monument is located just south of Sedona and 95 miles north of Phoenix. Montezuma Castle is one of the best preserved cliff dwellings in North America. Since Aunt Zim (from History by Zim) was along, she didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to see this monument in person. [Read more…]
Mother Nature Shares the Love
There are times when Mother Nature shows her furry, like the blizzard we are currently in. And there are times when she shows her love. Minnesota Dogs of Instagram Meet Up
Happy Friday Everyone! I’m so excited today is finally here so I can share this past weekend mini adventure my humans and I took to Itasca State Park. I’m happy to report that I’m successfully keeping my State Park New Year’s Resolution! If you don’t know, I set a resolution to visit a different state park each month and Itasca is my February State Park. Itasca State Park was about a 4.5 hour drive for us heading north. Bark For Life Walk
This past weekend I participated in the American Cancer Society’s Bark For Life here is Southern Minnesota. This was the first time I have ever heard of this event and was eager to attend.
So, Saturday morning my mom, aunt, and myself all packed up in our car a drove to the location. The weather was perfect for a morning hike at one of the local parks.
We arrived and first thing we did was registered. For donating, I received this purple Bark For Life bandana. After introducing ourselves I got the pleasure to meet some royalty. One of the special guest at the event was Miss Mankato herself. At first I was bashful to ask for a picture, but she was more then happy to get her picture with me. She was such a nice, sweet gal.
Before I knew it we were off. The walk was a little over a mile long and along the way they had these signs with motivating statements on them. One of the signs said, “Official Sponsor of Birthdays.”
The walk started off going up a steep hill, which then lead into the woods. Throughout the walk I noticed horse tracks along with active squirrels. If I wasn’t on a mission I would have chased a couple of them.
My favorite sign that I saw was, “Be active for at least 30 minutes a day on most days of the week!”
Before I knew it we were crossing the finish line with the other K9 and their owners. It was fun to see dog and humans coming together for such a great cause!
We headed under the shelter and mingled with others. We got talking with two ladies from the Minnesota Valley Pet Hospital. They were very nice and answered some questions my mom had.
Once the event was over, we headed home to check out the cool swag bag I got. Who doesn’t love fun stuff!
I had so much fun I can’t wait to attend next year! If you ever have the opportunity to attend a Bark For Life event I highly recommend it. For now I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
