I’m so excited to be participating in Go Pet Friendly’s The 2016 Pet Blogger Challenge. This is my first time participating in this challenge and I had a blast. It gave me a wonderful opportunity to see how much this blog has grown over the last twelve months, as well as, where I see this blog going in the next twelve months.
1. How long have you been blogging? And, for anyone who is visiting for the first time, please give a quick description of the subject of your blog.
- I have been blogging since September 7th, 2013. If you would like to know more about me before this blog visit “About Me.” Here are my goals for this blog:
- To share the adventures of me, Spencer the Goldendoodle.
- Bring awareness on the importance of adopting, instead of shopping. As well as supporting rescue organizations, humane societies, and other non-profits groups.
- Educate people about Goldendoodles and clear up some myths out there.
- Provide honest product reviews that are informative and helpful.
2. What is the one thing that you accomplished during 2015, either on your blog or because of it, that made you most proud?
- The biggest accomplishment was switching over from BlogSpot to WordPress! It was a lot of work, but it is paying off!
3. Which of your blog posts was your favorite this year and why? (Please include a link.)
- My favorite post from last year is “Getting to Know the Goldendoodle.” In this post not only do I explain what the different generations mean, I also share some common myths of goldendoodles. The biggest myth out there is: all goldendoodles do not shed. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I come from a litter of 9, half of us don’t shed and half of us do shed, and some shed a lot.
4. A common theme from last year’s challenge was that many of us wanted to increase the size of our audiences. Whether or not we intend to monetize our blogs, it seems we’d all like to reach more people. It feels good to know that we’re connecting with others, sharing a laugh or supporting a cause, and it’s motivating to see those numbers grow! What is one thing you’ve done in the past year that has brought more traffic to your blog?
- Writing and interacting consistently increases my audience size. Now that the holidays are over and my new website is up and running smoothly I hope to be writing and engaging on a consistent bases.
5. Which of your blog posts got the most traffic this year? Why do you think it was so popular? (Please include a link.)
- I find this question interesting because the answer is the same question three, “Getting to Know the Goldendoodle.” I had a lot of fun researching and writing this post, that my followers appreciated that passion.
6. What is one blog that you read religiously – other than your own – and what makes you such a devoted reader? (Please include a link.)
- There are many blog I visit, but I would have to say My GBGV Life. Since Emma and the gang are also from Minnesota we have the opportunity to meet up on occasion. Emma does an amazing job exploring the state and sharing her adventures it keeps me coming back for more. She has also been so helpful and supportive over the last year, I truly don’t know what I would do with out her. Not to mention, I had the honor of taking her sister, Bailie on my first ever date!!!
7. What resources do you rely on to enhance your technical, writing, photography, social media, or other skills that improve your blog?
- The biggest resource I use is Google and/or YouTube. You can learn so much just by “searching” you question or problem.
- My dad helps me with a lot of the technical issues that arise. My mom is excited to take a photography class at the end of the month.
- Here are some of the online resources I rely on:
8. What is the best piece of advice you can offer other bloggers?
- Have fun!
9. What is your vision for your blog in 2016? Do you have specific goals?
- This year I made 3 New Year’s Resolutions, which are also my goals for this year:
- Visit a new State Park every month and share the adventures with all of you.
- Minnesota has 67 state parks located throughout the state, so I should hope to get out and explore this great state some more.
- Go on a road trip to Arizona and get my picture in front of each state sign.
- As most of you know I’m attending the national BlogPaws conference this summer in Arizona. As long as my humans don’t miss any of the signs this resolution should be easy to achieve.
- Continue to grow my blog!
- With this new website I hope to get a new logo to go with it.
- My humans want to continue to build their picture taking skills.
- I plan to create more post that are informative and educational.
- Visit a new State Park every month and share the adventures with all of you.
10. You have the attention of the pet blogging community – is there one blogging challenge you’d like help with, or one aspect of your blog that you’d like input on?
- Since I’m new to WordPress, do you have any tips or trick or advice for me???
- Also, if you had to pick on social media site that you are the most loyal to which one is it (Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Google+, etc)?
Thank you so much again to Go Pet Friendly for hosting this wonderful Challenge!
