Happy Friday Everyone! I’m so excited today is finally here so I can share this past weekend mini adventure my humans and I took to Itasca State Park. I’m happy to report that I’m successfully keeping my State Park New Year’s Resolution! If you don’t know, I set a resolution to visit a different state park each month and Itasca is my February State Park. Itasca State Park was about a 4.5 hour drive for us heading north. Below is a map showing you where the park is located.
Did you know that the Mississippi River starts in Minnesota? Better yet, did you know the beginning of the River starts in Itasca State Park? Being at the beginning of the river that would travel about 2500 miles, passing a total of 10 states before flowing into the Gulf of Mexico was mind blowing. Then, part of my was thinking if I used the “tree facility” next to the river would that travel all the way………sorry, too much information.
In the picture above is you can see the line of rocks separating the frozen Lake Itasca and the flowing Mississippi River. If you look in the distance you can see ice fishers on the lake.
Here is a better shot of the separation of the lake and river.
Of course need the a picture with the landmark.
Yep, that’s me, making a break for it and running across the river, not once but twice. Darn humans need to do a better job at keeping an eye on me! 🙂
A couple of weeks ago, there was a group started on Facebook called “Minnesota Dogs of Instagram.” This was a wonderful place were pup’s with their own Instagram account could gather and meet pups from Minnesota who were on Instagram. I was excited when I heard they were meeting up at this park.
Itasca State Park was the perfect park to meet up at. Not only does the Mississippi River start here, it also is Minnesota’s oldest State Park. And in my mind one of the prettiest parks I’ve been too.
While we were all together we decided to get a group shot with all the pups. That’s right, all 11 of us and I would like to add only half of us were over the age of two. At first the humans thought this was a disaster waiting to happen. But, little did they know we were going to give them what they wanted, a group shot. Not only did we sit there for a picture, we sat there long enough for our humans to take what seemed to be 50 pictures.
Without further ado,I would now like to now introduce you to my new Minnesota Instagram pals. From the left: Zedd, Harmony, Halsey, Markarth, Me, Riften, Azura, Loki, Juneau, Elvis, and Archer. I linked their Instagram accounts to their names. Feel free to check them out!
I’m so excited for our next meet up. I would also like to quickly thank Sojos, Chuck & Don’s, Great Dog Co., NutriSource, Espana SILK, and Northland Feed & Seed for their wonderful donations to this meet up!
I want to know: Do you have fun meet ups you participate in? Have you met other Instagram pets from your area?
Today I’m joining the FitDog Friday Blog Hop hosted by SlimDoggy, My GBGV Life and To Dog With Love.
