Little Snoopy’s Visit to the Pumpkin Patch

October 29, 2015 by spencerthegoldendoodle 9 Comments

What would Halloween be if I didn’t bring Little Snoopy to the pumpkin patch. We are in Minnesota after all, the birth place of Snoopy and the whole Peanuts gang. Not to mention, we are in search of the Great Pumpkin. Once we find our great pumpkin, I think I’m going to watch the classic movie.

Have you found your Great Pumpkin?  Do you plan on watching the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown?

Photo Bombed and Mischief at the Apple Orchard

October 19, 2015 by spencerthegoldendoodle 16 Comments

Happy Monday Everyone! It’s official, fall is here and that means apple orchard time. I decided to hit the road with my mom and visit one of the local apple orchards.

The orchard we went to is called Minnesota Harvest in Southern Minnesota. While I was getting my picture at the welcome sign you will never guess who photo bombed my picture, Emma from My GBGV Life.

After catching up we decided to hangout at the orchard while our moms play with their cameras.

Emma wasn’t happy when I beat her to the top of the hay stack. And she was less then thrilled when I started yelling, “I’m king of the world!” I need really need to work on my lady skills.

What is harvest time without a tractor or two. Right Emma? I have seen red and green tractors before but never an orange tractor.

I could hear our moms talking about the limo ride we were going to have and boy, I got excited! I mean, who doesn’t want to drive around with a pretty lady by their side in a fancy vehicle. It turned out we were thinking of two different limos. However, this orchard limo is even better and much easier to smell the fall, crisp air.
As our moms were talking, we found out Emma and her mom have never been to Minnesota’s largest candy store. I almost passed out in surprise. Even I love this store, as they sell the most delicious, home grown apples as well. Our moms sure felt like kids in a candy store walk up and down the rows and rows of a sorted candy. Once they finally came out of the candy store, we found out they got into a little bit of mischief themselves. But that is a whole different blog post.

Today is the last day to enter for your chance to win a bag of Zuke’s Mini Natural and one of their Z-Bones. HERE is the link.

Lake Fun

September 25, 2015 by spencerthegoldendoodle 21 Comments

Since there was a break in the rain and the temperature is still warm, my humans decided to hang out at the lake. Although I live in Minnesota, sadly I don’t visit the lakes much. But, was really excited to tag along.

I really enjoyed watching the minnows and sunfish swimming around.

And before you knew it, I was jumping in the water and exploring.

I’m happy my humans always have a frisbee in their car for emergency pick stops. You just never know when it will come in handy. As you can see I’m working on my “doggy paddle” skills.

What a nice, peaceful evening we had. The lake was nice a clam. Sadly it was time to head home. On the way, I sure was smelling good, like a wet dog good.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Don’t forget to enter my current giveaway for your chance to win three bags of Walkies! Fit Bites dog treats. Here is the direct LINK to enter.

Geocaching Fun with Your Dog

June 19, 2015 by spencerthegoldendoodle 25 Comments

Today I’m sharing with you one of my latest adventures, Geocaching. I bet most of you have never hear of Geocaching before. If you are one of those people please watch this informational video to get you all caught up.

Alright, we are all on the same page now. I would also like to add a quick disclaimer: if you plan on geocaching the Minneopa State Park in Southern Minnesota, please do not continue to read.

***Spoiler Alert Ahead***

Now I can start my adventure.

My humans and I arrived at Minneopa State Park with their cell phones in hand. My dad entered the first set of coordinates that we got from geocaching.com. And we where off.

Our cell phones lead us behind a building. There they were staring us in the face, our next set of coordinates. After inputting them, we headed off following the little compass on our phones.

As we were following the compass we couldn’t help ourselves but to notice the beautiful scenery around us.
Then we came to a bench. We searched and searched and then underneath we found our second set of coordinates.
Once again, we inputted them and hit the trail.
This time the coordinates lead us over a creak and up a steep set of step.

Finally we get to the top of this hill. We took a moment to catch our breath as well as enjoy the gorgeous waterfall. This state park has two amazing waterfalls that draws people from near and far. Especially during winter when they freeze over.
After a few minutes appreciating our surroundings, we were off again.

Then I noticed a big log laying, in what seemed like the middle of nowhere.

So I started sniffing around and there was a hole in the back of the log. With the help from my mom we cleared the pile of sticks covering the hole and noticed a metal box.

We pulled the metal box and we all started celebrating.

WE FOUND IT!

We immediately open it and pull out the log box and sign it with our geocaching name.

Then we pulled out the treading cards to see which flower represents Minneopa State Park. Each of the stated parks in Minnesota have a different trading card for people to collect. This theme is “Call of the Wildflowers.”

We took one as a souvenir, got our usual photo as proof, close the metal ammo can up and place it back where we found it. We then recorded “found” on our geocaching account, bringing out total finds up to 472. Another successful fun and another great adventure.

We love geocaching! It is a great way to bring some excitement to your hike as well as getting people and animals moving. Geocaching is great for adults and kids alike, I mean, who doesn’t like to go treasure hunting.

Frolicking in the Woods

May 22, 2015 by spencerthegoldendoodle 10 Comments

This past week in Southern Minnesota it was on the cool side. Which made it great for frolicking in the woods.
One of my favorite places to hike is Minneopa State Park. This park has two gorgeous waterfalls, a couple of bridges, and lots of steps that go both up and down.

The best way to end a great hike is to play a wonderful game of fetch. My humans love using a stick, so if I loose it, they don’t have to go searching for it!

Hanging outside was a great way to start my Memorial weekend.

P.S. Great news, no ticks the entire time I was in the woods!!! 🙂

Camping Tips & Tricks

May 21, 2015 by spencerthegoldendoodle 7 Comments

When humans go camping they bring a lot of “stuff.” But most of it is necessary such as the tent, sleeping bags, chairs, cooler of food, and fire wood. Today, I am sharing two of my favorite tips and tricks for camping with your dog.

First Tip: Yoga Mat
My humans use inflatable mats to sleep on and they bring a yoga mat for me. This provides a barrier between the ground and my bed (either a sleeping bag or a blanket) to help block out the cold that is radiating from the ground. Yoga mats are small, light weight, and very effective.

Second Tip: Free Samples
Free samples make quick and easy meals. Not only are they already in a sealed package, they are also premeasured and great for a single meal. All you need to do is bring one for each meal and they take up very little space.

Do you go camping with your dog, please share your tips and tricks with us.
