Do you know when a big dog turns 7 years old they are considered a senior dog?

According to experts at Purina Pro Plan, around age 7, the glucose metabolism in a dog’s brain begins to change, which can affect memory, learning, awareness or decision making. Purina Pro Plan discovered a way to promote alertness and mental sharpness in dogs 7+through nutrition and has indroduced BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+ formulas.

So my mom packed me up and headed out to our local PetSmart to get a bag of Purina Pro Plan’s BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+ dry dog food.

When I arrived at PetSmart there was an entire wall of different Purina brand foods. But, in no time I sniffed out what I was looking for, the BRIGHT MIND 7+ formula.

I noticed the Purina Pro Plan BRIGHT MIND 7+ Adult dry dog food offers three different options for food:

  • Small Breed Formula
  • Large Breed Formula
  • Standard Breed Formula

Also, coming in a verity of different size bags, from 5lbs to 30lbs.

Purina Pro Plan BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+ formulas contain enhanced botanical oils shown to promote alertness and mental sharpness in dogs sever and older with visible results within 30 days.

When added to the daily diet of dogs 7+, formulas that contained enhanced botanical oils promoted memory, attention and trainability.

Owners who feed their senior dogs Purina Pro Plan BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+ as a daily diet may notice differences in owner-dog interaction, interest in play and the ability to adapt and cope with change.

I know a pawful of humans who add extra oils to help with their aging senior dogs, but with this Purina Pro Plan BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+ dog food, Purina has already added those essential oils. The Purina Pro Plan BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+ leaves me with an empty dish and leaves my humans feeling at ease watching me get older knowing I’m getting the nutrition for both my body and my mind.

Don’t miss out on this great deal: Spend $10 on any Purina Pro Plan product, 2/29/16-4/3/16. Save $10 on your next purchase of Purina Pro Plan Dry Cat or Dry Dog Food (14lbs. or larger) or Litter (6lbs or larger) by 5/1/16.

You look so different with your shaved fur! We used to eat ProPlan, but not anymore. I guess we will have to be careful when you try to outsmart us next time we meet up!

This sounds like a great food for those of us over 7 years old. It is important to stay sharp and alert. ☺

We love shopping at Petsmart too! Btw, I love your haircut!

I have a senior girl in the house. She is turning 13 this month. Simon is 9 and I thought he was more middle aged rather than a senior (if you met him, you’d swear he was a puppy) so it’s interesting to read that after 7 they are considered seniors. Haven’t tried the ProPlan as all of my dogs are on grain-free, single protein foods.

I am glad that companies are starting to address the brain changes in a senior dog by adding supplements to their foods. Not a perfect solution, but a good first step!

This food sounds great! I love how brands are making food for each dog’s stage of life. Miley just turned 7 so I will definitely check this out the next time we head to PetSmart! Thanks for sharing!

It is amazing how fast our pets can age! With kitties, the age for being a senior varies between 10 and 12 years old (mostly depending on what your veterinarian believes). It’s great that Purina is making a food that takes the needs of senior pets in mind.

It’s great that companies are making foods specially for senior dogs. I haven’t made any changes to Mr. N’s food yet aside from adding a joint supplement.

I have read so many awesome things about this food and glad to see that it is helping so many dogs. I love companies that step up and keep the well being of dogs in mind.
