Hello everyone! I’m a little under the weather right now, so today I’m sharing one of our many pit stops from our trip to Arizona a month ago.
While driving through the state of Nebraska, Aunt Zim wanting to visit Chimney Rock National Historic Site.
I know what most of you are thinking, what on earth is Chimney Rock? I was thinking the exact same thing, so don’t worry. Aunt Zim explained when she was growing up in the ’90s she would play a lot of Oregon Trail. Well, Chimney Rock is one of the historic landmarks in the game as well as on the real Oregon Trail.
So, why is this landmark so iconic? Chimney Rock signaled to those traveling the Oregon Trail that the prairies were coming to an end. And the trail will become more steep and rugged as they head west towards the Rocky Mountains. In other words, this was the pioneers form of a caution sign.
If you are ever in Nebraska, I highly encourage you to take this pit stop.
