Thoughtless Thursday: Party Decorations

September 11, 2014 by spencerthegoldendoodle 10 Comments

What would a party be without decorations and let me tell you, my mom went all out!

We started with a color scheme (red, blue, green and orange) and went from there.

I already had the “Spencer” banner, which is great to be able to reuse props. A little DIY project that involved using a Cricut machine and a wonderful “Happy Blogiversary” banner was born.
Next, you have to be dressed for the occasion. Again, following the color scheme, I found this handsome bow tie at Target and this party hat on Etsy.

What does every great dog party need, that’s right, a fire hydrant. Even though it is made out of paper, it still adds that extra something.

My favorite is this DIY fabric banner. My mom went to our local fabric store and picked out a yard of five different fabrics, one pattern and solid colors. Can you guess which colors???

Once home we cut the fabric into one inch wide by twelve inches long strips. We did this until we ran out of fabric. Then we tired the fabric onto a long piece of twine in a pattern. We ended up making two banners, each about four feet long.

Finally, every good party needs balloons. The best part was using a bottle of peanut butter as the weight of the balloons.

I would love to hear from you, what is your favorite decoration, either from my party or at your own parties?

Tasty Tuesday: PupCakes and Ice Cream Treats

September 9, 2014 by spencerthegoldendoodle 8 Comments

What is a party without yummy food. Here are two easy recipes to do for your next doggie celebration.
My first tasty treat is called PupCakes. These mouth watering treats are simple and the best part about this treat, we already had all the ingredients in our kitchen.

After the PupCakes were done cooling we added some peanut butter frosting. Then topped them off with a Zuke’s Jerky treat. My mouth is watering them just looking at this picture.
You can’t have cake without ice cream. My handy bone and paw print molds came in handy with this recipe. But, a simple dixie cup or ice cube tray will do the trick as well.
My mom should have added 4 ripe bananas, 3 for the recipe and 1 for me to enjoy as I watched her make these treats! What more could a dog ask for then bananas, peanut butter, and yogurt all in one.
And finally, while we were at the Renaissance Festival yesterday we stopped at “Royal Paws” and picked up these tasty treats. Yes, that is a mini pizza. Unfortunately, they only sell at festivals and not online, otherwise we would be placing weekly orders.
And there you have it fokes! Yummy, mouth watering treats your dog would love to have.

Don’t forget to check back all week for more Blogiversary fun! There is a giveaway happening on my Facebook page and my blog! Make sure you enter daily for your chance to win some amazing prizes!

Art Project With Your Dog

August 13, 2014 by spencerthegoldendoodle 16 Comments

I’m excited to show you two different DIY projects that are easy and inexpensive to do with your pet. The first project is capturing their paw prints on paper. The second is making decorative art work for your house, while using those paw prints.

Supplies:
Tag Board (any size, the bigger the more paw prints you can get)
Acrylic Paint (any color)
Container Lid
Cutting Mat
Cuter or Scissors
Picture Frames (any sizes, as many as you want)
Rub On Decals (you can find at your local art and craft store)
Pictures (as many as you want)

We put the tag board on a small cardboard table outside. Then poured some paint on the lid to use as a “tray.” After dipping my paw in the paint, my mom just played around with different placement, pressures, and amount of paint. The best part was afterwards, I got to go swimming to “wash” the paint off my paw and it all came off with no problems.

Once inside we took out the glass from the picture frames and placed it just right on the tag board. Then, using the cutter we traced the edge of the glass to get the right cut.

After the paw prints were cut out and placed in the frames, we applied the decals. They say:
“A true friend leaves paw prints on your heart.” “My Dog.”

Looking back we should have chosen a different color of paint so the letters would pop out more, but maybe next time.

Since we had so many decals left over we put them to use on my treat jar.

And there you have it easy, inexpensive project you can do to showcase your dog.

Tasty Tuesday: Frozen Yogurt Treats

March 11, 2014 by spencerthegoldendoodle 22 Comments

Did you know that dogs can eat yogurt?
They can!

Yogurt is a great source of calcium and protein that your dogs will love. When choosing a yogurt, pick one that has live active bacteria and no sugars or artificial sweeteners. The active bacteria may act as probiotics and is good for your dog’s digestive system.

This treat is great during the summertime or anytime. It is easy, quick and good for your dog.
What more can you ask for?
Supplies:
  • Yogurt
  • Mold/Ice Cube Tray
  • Freezer
Directions:
All you do is pour the yogurt into your mold or ice cube tray and place it in the freezer until frozen.
Pop out and Enjoy!
